Dongwanism is a fansite, and its story started in 2007, with a few projects developed in Shinhwa's Brazilian community, the shinhwaBR. Trying to find more international partnership, shinhwaBR's webmaster affiliate to the international project to support Kim Dongwan, a part of his Korean fanclub, Lover.
The DW International Support Team was created also in 2007, to support Kim Dongwan's olo career, and started a lot of international projects, including the help in buying the original album and the celebration of Kim Dongwan's birthday.
The other Shinhwa members unfortunately didn't have international support as the DW International Support Team, and because of it only Kim Dongwan had his projects running in Brazil, and coming from so far away, shinhwaBR got closer to Lover and its members, raising permanent bounds.
The webmaster then decided to make a full website dedicated to Kim Dongwan. And it becomes dongwanism. At the beginning the website was in English, because there was no website for Kim Dongwan in this language. But it was poor and too simple. Soon, a Portuguese version was released, and the website was bilingual.
During almost 1 year, the English part of Dongwanism was much bigger than the Portuguese because it had a bigger public of viewers. But Dongwanism in Portuguese was the main goal of the webmaster, and the projects were run in Brazil, while support material was distributed to radios and TV to show the South Korean singer talent. Then we started the Meeting Kim Dongwan events, which took place in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim-ES, distributing original albums to people interested in get acquaintance with this music.
The first Meeting Kim Dongwan happened before july, 2008, and it was great. In july the webmaster was in Korea and could enjoy live a few of Kim Dongwan performances, including getting closer and closer with the Korean fanclub - the girls are amazing and their work is priceless. After the come back to Brazil, the idea to make the website a bit more comprehensive became this website.
But Kim Dongwan was in the army, and he will comeback. We must keep the support stronger than ever, and making things to keep his memory alive during the 2 years he'll be apart. As the Brazilian fans mostly can read English and as the foreigner fans still don't have their English website, Dongwanism is now international, to give more and more support to Kim Dongwan while we wait for him - no matter how long it takes, no matter how difficult it is.
We hope you feel home. This is a fansite to honor a very talented singer that unfortunately doesn't have the fair international projection. We hope to change this. And we would like to introduce you, with our hearts, Kim Dongwan.
